1974-1976 Study years
Worked with Asia Insurance Company and set up own Insurance agency in Tehran
1976-1981 – President
Horizons XVIII Inc.- Owned and operated 2 hotels, Gerber Haus in Fort Wayne, Indiana
and Merril’s Hotel in Indianapolis, Indiana, USA, full service hotels totalling 180 rooms.
1983 – Managing Director
Established Consumer Products Limited (CPL), a 100% Export Oriented Apparel Factory, one of the
pioneering factories in that period in Bangladesh. H&M being new and as one of the first and main
manufacturer in Bangladesh, helped H&M to set up their entire establishment in Dhaka, Bangla
desh from scratch. Brought in and introduced to Bangladesh Kappahl AB and Lindex A.B, Seppala
A.B (Stockman Group) three of the biggest retailers in Sweden and Finland.
1987 – Director
Established International Trade Connection (Pvt) Ltd, a well reputed Int’l apparel trading house
representing several large retailers in Scandinavia, Europe and USA.
1992 – Managing Director
Established under (CPL Group) Tiffiny’s Wear Limited, Saville Row Limited and Four Wings Limited a
group of three 100% Export Oriented Apparel factories.

2005 – 2011 – Managing Director (Hon)
Established Consumer Knitex Limited, a vertical composite knit as a Joint Venture with Denmark,
with knitting, printing, sewing and finishing. Company was later sold to CLT Apparel, the largest
private apparel manufacturing in the Republic of Mauritius.
Dhaka, Bangladesh In course of time and gradually exited the companies after handing over
management to family members.

• Former Senior Vice President, Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (2002-2004)
• Was elected Director (on 5 occasions), Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters(BGMEA)
• Designated CIP (Commercially Important Person) on 10 occasions for exports by Ministry of Commerce,
  Govt. of Bangladesh from 1990 to 2001.
• Member delegate with Govt & team leader for BGMEA that negotiated Bangladesh access to GSP+ in
  European Union.
• Member delegate with Ministerial team and BGMEA team leader for negotiations for duty free access of
  Bangladesh RMG to Canada.
• Member Ministerial team as BGMEA representative for negotiations with USTR in Washinton D.C.
  As President of France Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce and Industry arranged and set up Bangladesh
  Apparel Fair with Paris Chamber of Commerce & Industry in Paris, France.
• As President of Dutch Bangla Chamber of Commerce & Industry arranged and set up Bangladesh Single
  Country Apparel Fair in Amsterdam, The Netherlands.
• Life member of Dhaka Club Limited.
• Member Kurmitola Golf Club, Dhaka
• Motor Cars and Rallye Ensthusiast. Participated in few car Rally’s notably was in the 2nd Asian Highway
  Motor Rally with global participants The Tehran-Dhaka Motor Rally 7,960 km arranged by ECAFE(U.N.) and
  successfully completed it.
• Fishing and angling has been a passion.
• Married and have been blessed with a son and a daughter and three lovely grandchildren
