After finishing my college in the UK, I returned to Bangladesh in October, 1980 and
started work as Manager of the family business of Jute exports. All my life I have
been involved with the business of exports and imports of commodities like Jute,
cotton, pulp. Besides this, I have also been the organizational head of Jute mill,
PVC compounding factory. I have been the proprietor of a readymade clothing
buying house with operational success since 1986.
Over the last few years I have been extensively involved in international procurement
activities of machinery and equipment for paper mills, plastic machinery, and equipment.

WORK EXPERIENCE
1. A.R.A.Jute Trading Corporation Limited – Role-Manager up to Executive Director,
operational head. From 11/1980 to 2004, Dhaka Communicate with buyers regarding product require
ment, demand and market intelligence daily. Maintain and keep market report of crop size, pricing,
and export prices.
Make Purchase planning of raw jute and execute purchase requirement as per export order or plan
long for stock holding based on crop reports and stock statistics.
Maintain cooperation with Government departments and business forums.
All shipment planning, arranging, and shipping of goods was negotiated, supervised, and controlled
under my direct guidance.
A.R.A.Jute Trading Corporation was amongst the largest exporters of Raw Jute from Bangladesh. At
its peak it used to employ up to 3000 workers and staff whose management was under my direct
responsibility as the executive Director since 1985 up to 2004.

2. A.R.A Jute Mills Limited – Role- Executive Director 1982- 2006. The mill was established in 1982 and
commenced full production in 1983. My position in the mill was as Executive Director working under
the Managing Director. I was fully responsible for setting up the mill, starting from erection of the
machinery to start up, operation of the mill. The mill being a jute spinning mill employed a total of 350
workers and staff all under my direct supervision. I remained as Executive Director until 2006.
All procurement, employment, managing finances, procuring export orders, negotiating with export
buyers, arranging delivery, shipping etc was under my direct control.

3. Petro Synthetic Products Limited – Role-Managing Director. 2000- 2006. This was a PVC compounding
factory located near Dhaka. With a capacity of up to 6 tons of PVC production per day with imported
raw material PVC resin. I was engaged with the task of routing the company through the banking
system and negotiate a best way out to close the company in view of its dire market conditions and
continuous losses of some years prior to my involvement in management.
I was able to successfully help negotiate a deal with the banking system prior to closure of the com
pany subsequently.

4. Trade Scan International – 1986 – ongoing. Role- Proprietor. I started this company as a buying house for
readymade clothing exports from Bangladesh. Main objective has been to obtain export orders with
my international exposure and connections with reputable buyers worldwide, and then place these
orders with factories in Bangladesh and follow up execution of the production of garment and export.

At the best of times, we have worked with over 35 factories at a time managing orders placed with
these factories and ensuring execution of the orders and shipping on time.

At Trade Scan International, I started engaging in Commodity business, especially in Cotton Trade
and Pulp Trade. I have been working on this since 2007.

On cotton, I have mostly been engaged in selling Indian cotton to some of the reputable spinners in
Bangladesh with whom I maintain excellent rapport.

On Pulp, I have been engaged as the country representative of CNG USA and selling their Pulp to the
mills in Bangladesh since 2015 and ongoing.

5. In 2018 I joined in partnership with the Chairman of Amber group to start Amber International with
which I am still engaged, primarily as procurement specialist for machinery, equipment, raw materi
als, government contracts. The company is still in operation.

6. Currently doing business in Canada. Director of Poro Limited. A trading company since 2017

7. Director – Plan6ix Buildtrade Inc – Building material imports and supply business in Toronto.

EDUCATION

  1. School: Residential Model School and college Dhaka. An English Medium fully boarding school. I
    finished my high school in 1974.
  2. Went to France in 1974 and studied French at the Alliance Francaise, Paris for 6 months.
  3. Bolton Institute of technology – I went to Bolon, UK in 1975 and studied Textile technology and
    obtained A1/ATI of Association of Textile Institute in 1976.
  4. Stockport College of technology and sciences, Stockport, Greater Manchester, UK – Completed a
    three-year in Business studies graduation specializing in international marketing.

    SKILLS- –

    Experience in computer operation and the use of IT. Microsoft office, communications by mail.

    Excellent communication in both written and verbal English and Bangla. Fluent in speaking, writing,
    and understanding in English with an ability to think in English.
